Obituary of Gary Bauter

Gary H. Bauter, age 70, of Corning, NY, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018.

Gary was born on February 19, 1948 in Buffalo and his parents are Theodore and Wanda (Cranmer) Bauter. He was a graduate of Haverling High School, Class of 1967, and served his country during the Vietnam War in the Army, 9th Infantry Division. He married Janet McLean on October 11, 1980 in Campbell. He enjoyed hunting, working with his horses, four wheeling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid professional bull rider fan, was a life member of the Corning VFW, and Bath American Legion. Gary was a gifted musician and pianist. Gary worked as a gaffer for Steuben until 1992.

He is survived by his wife Janet; three daughters, Victoria Bauter (Terrance Davies) of Corning, Veronica Misson of West Wyoming, PA, and Tami (David) Dowdle of Bath; his mother, Wanda Bauter-Lewis; sister, Linda (Michael) Empey of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Samantha Teeter (Brett Treusdell) of Corning, Jeofferey (Paula) Teeter of Wellsburg, Cassondra Teeter (Alex Smith) Lindley, Anthony Teeter of Corning, Alexandria Teeter (Nick Cortright) of Parkersburg, WV, Brianna Misson of West Wyoming, PA, Amanda Misson of West Wyoming, PA, Shannon Dowdle (Josh Johnson) of Bath, Sierra Dowdle of Bath, Jessica Dowdle of Bath; 6 great grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd from 2 - 5 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.

Gary fought multiple sclerosis for over 30 years and the family asks that memorial donations be made to www.nationalmssociety.org.
