Obituary of David Seely

David W. Seely, age 78, of Big Flats, NY died Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on December 5, 1939 in Elmira, NY and married Sandra Bush on August 25, 1962 in Rochester, NY.

He was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy (1958) and RIT (1962) as an electrical engineer. David worked for Thatcher Glass and Toshiba and taught business classes in the evening at Elmira College. While he was at the college, he was a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, and a recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Teaching award. David was on the Big Flats Zoning Board and was an avid amateur radio operator. As a member of All Saints Parish, David served on many committees, was a lector, Eucharist Minister, and served on the Parish Council. He was an avid reader (history) and sports enthusiast. Above all, he loved his family and he loved to laugh.

David is survived by his wife Sandra; two daughters, Robyn (David) Lupica of Alpharetta, GA and Tara Green of Ashburn, VA; two sons, Brian (Tara) Seely of Moscow, PA and Jeffrey (Dana) Seely of Little Silver, NJ; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kaleigh, Chelsea, Gabriella, Ryan, Brayden, Jordan, and Jackson; sister-in-law, Jane (Thomas) Cantin of Rochester; one niece and two nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rose Seely. The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Rogers and Visiting Angels for their outstanding care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 7th at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Corning Food Pantry, 11715 E. Corning Rd, Corning, NY 14830 or to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14830.

David's family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
