Obituary of Norman O. Pelham

Norman O. Pelham, age 100, of South Corning, NY passed away at Bampa's House in Corning on November 24, 2021.

Norm was born on February 3, 1921 in Gillett, PA, and was son of the late Oliver and Gladys (Andrews) Pelham. 

He was a graduate of Northside High School and enlisted in the United States Navy on May 11, 1942, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Arena's during WWII as a machinist mate, receiving an honorable discharge.

Norm was employed by Chowning Regulator Corp. with over 11 years of service, before and after the war. He was then hired by Corning Inc. in 1952 and after 31 years he retired as the Shift Supervisor in the machine and mold shops at the Corning Pressware Plant.

He was a lifetime member of the Corning VFW and the American Legion of Big Flats.

Norm had a special fondness for the South Corning Methodist Church of which he was a member. He also enjoyed "coffee breaks" with his buddies at Wegmans and South Corning Byrne Dairy.

He is survived by daughter, Annette M. Baldwin, and grandson, Casey Baldwin of VA; granddaughter, Darbi Fretwell of Brooklyn, NY; niece, Donna Nelson; nephew, Clifton (Shirley) White; and several great nieces and nephews.

Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Irma (Olmstead) Pelham, and sister, Louise Force.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Coopers Plains, New York.
