Mark Carpenter

Obituary of Mark Stephen Carpenter

Mark Stephen Carpenter, age 62, formerly of Caton and Addison, NY passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY.

Mark was born January 23, 1959 in Corning, NY to Ernest and Katherine (Runyan) Carpenter.  He was a graduate of Addison High School. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 1998 after serving for over twenty years. He was very proud of his time in the service and as he liked to say had secrets that he took to the grave. He was employed by Hilliard Corporation for over 18 years, most recently as a filter operator.

Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved NASCAR and was a die-hard Kyle Busch fan. Mark could tell you any NASCAR fact there was. He was one of the good ones, taken too soon, and he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Robin; daughter, Samantha Carpenter of Corning; step son, Shane (Risa) Tanner of Corning; step daughters, Kaitlin (Bryan McKinley) Moyer of Macedon, NY and Emily (Ryan Kirkpatrick) Tanner of Rochester, NY; granddaughters, Madilynn Mae and Laila Ann; brothers, Edward (Karen) Carpenter, Richard Carpenter, and Michael (Cindy) Carpenter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mark was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Carpenter, Jr., and infant sister, Cami Carpenter.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 22nd from 1 - 3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Vaughn VanSkiver officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
