Marjorie Lovell

Obituary of Marjorie W. Lovell

September 7, 1934 – January 23, 2021

Marjorie graduated from Northside High Class of 1953.  Shortly thereafter she married and moved into a newly built house where she raised her four children.  Her home of sixty-five years was filled with many happy memories and brought her much joy and happiness.

She married Douglas Lovell and together they shared over 59 years of true love prior to his death in 2013.

One of ten children, Marjorie was born in Corning, the daughter of Thomas and Irene Kittner Woodhouse.  She spoke proudly of her four sisters and five brothers and kept a close bond with them.

Marjorie’s first interest was as a homemaker.  She was a self-taught seamstress and sewed with a passion.  She enjoyed playing cards, going to church, walking for exercise, watching Sunday afternoon football, hosting dinner parties, chancing her luck now and then with a slot-machine, spending time with the South Corning Senior Citizens Association, and bowling in the Crystal Lanes Senior League.  For many years her favorite work outside of the home was at the South Corning Agway.  Family, friends and community were the center of her life.

Marge had a kind personality and greeted everyone with an open smile.  She would make friendships that lasted a lifetime.  She enjoyed a good get together and would be heard talking about it long afterwards.  Marge embraced all things honest and put her trust in God.  Husband and family, friends and neighbors, were her pillars of happiness.

Marjorie is survived by her four children and their spouses: Margaret (Ralph) Ruvolo, Brian (Lyn) Lovell, Christine (Diane C) Lovell, Stephen (Judy) Lovell; brothers: Charles, Earl, Richard; sisters, Sally and Shirley; grandchildren: Michael (Kim) Ruvolo, Mark (Sarah) Ruvolo, Jennifer (Yosef Pitts) Lovell, Kristen Lovell, Seth (Christy W) Lovell, Sara (Andrew) Sisson; great grandchildren: Lindsay (Tyler) Hults, Michael J. Ruvolo, Miah McConnell, Sofia Pitts, Sadie Lovell, Sophia Lovell, Samantha Lovell; great great grandchild, Layla Hults.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Douglas; her brothers Thomas, James; her sisters Mary, Betty; beloved sister-in-law Beverly Woodhouse; and many other family members.

The family would like to thank all departments from Elderwood at Waverly, especially the Activities Department for their attentiveness to Marjorie’s vitality for the past three years.

Committal Prayer Service and burial with Father Matthew Jones of All Saints Parish was held on January 29, 2021. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street in Corning with Father Matthew Jones officiating.
