Miles C. Fulkerson, Jr., age 95, of Lindley, NY died Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Bath VA Medical Center.
Miles was born on May 16, 1922 in Blossburg, PA to Miles Clifford and Ella Mae (Moyer) Fulkerson. He married Loretta Mae Young on March 2, 1950 in Wellsboro, PA and was preceded in death by her on August 27, 2002.
He served in the US Army during World War II and had been employed by Ingersoll-Rand Company in Painted Post as an assembler from 1950 until his retirement in 1984. He was a life member of the Corning VFW. To all those who know Miles, he was a hardworking, funny, generous man who would do anything for anyone. A gentle giant to many and a person who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a good gardener and was known for his green thumb. Miles enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and great times at the cabin he built in PA with friends and family. He moved his family from the Liberty, PA area to NY in 1950.
He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne Cooley; son, Ronald (Cheryl) Fulkerson; grandchildren, Mathew (Amy) Fulkerson, Brandon Cooley, John Bart, Jr., and Dana Cooley; brother, Manford Fulkerson; sister, Thelma Hall; several nieces and nephews; extended family in Philadelphia, PA and Florida. Miles was preceded in death by his son Clifford in 1991.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in Tioga Memorial Gardens in Wellsboro, PA.
