Peter J. Celelli, 76, a lifelong Corning resident, passed away peacefully in the arms of his wife and daughter, Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from complications due to Covid.
He was born on Tuesday, September 18, 1945 in Corning, to the late Peter and Catherine (Gramoglia) Celelli, who survives.
Peter served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969. He worked his entire life in the grocery business at several locations in Corning and Painted Post.
Above all Peter was a family man who could be called upon at any time for advice because he knew a little something about everything. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and when given the chance would spoil and brag endlessly. He never missed a Yankee game, enjoyed camping at Hickory Hill with his wife during the summer and was always chasing down a tool borrowed by his children.
He is survived by the love of his life for 52 years, Sandra S. (Clark) Celelli, mother Catherine Celelli of Painted Post, daughter Tonia Celelli Zarek of Painted Post, two sons Geno (Rosemary) Celelli of Corning, and Tony (Deanne) Celelli, of Corpus Christi, TX, adored grandchildren Dustin and Rhianne Zarek, Zoe and Geno Thomas Celelli. Brother Joseph (Janice) Celelli of Painted Post, Sister Tina Marie (Brian) DiGiacomo of Maryland, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Peter was predeceased by his father Peter R., brother Daniel, Mother and Father-in-law Anne and Francis Clark and brothers-in-law Sidney and Stanley Clark.
Pursuant to Peters wishes there will be no services.
The family would like to thank the ER staff at Corning Hospital and the 7th floor ICU unit at Robert Packer hospital for the compassion and care shown to Peter and his family during this time.
Peter’s family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
