Edward B. Rhyne

 

 

Edward B. Rhyne, age 70, of Painted Post, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Corning Hospital with his daughters by his side.

 

Ed was born on November 5, 1950 in Liberty, NY to Robert Rhyne and Beulah (Dexter) Ryan. 

 

He was a graduate of Liberty High School, class of 1968 and attended Michigan State University from 1968-1972 receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, attended Liberty University obtaining his Master’s Degree in Religious Studies and earning his PhD in Religious Studies from Christian Bible College.

 

Ed started working for Corning Incorporated right after college and retired from World Kitchen in Corning as a Manager of Packaging and Merchandising in June 2011. He currently was employed as the Business Manager at Corning Christian Academy as well as a teacher of Physics and Chemistry.

 

He enjoyed going to church, fishing, watching and coaching several sports, spending time with family, studying the Bible, and being a mentor and teacher in so many ways.

 

Ed was a very active member of Victory Highway Wesleyan Church, serving on the Board and the many departments within the church.  He was considered a great man of God by so many and his faith resonated throughout his daily life.  His pronounced wisdom and influence has created an impact and legacy that lives on far beyond his death. 

 

He is survived by two daughters, Amber (Dwight) Karkan, of Waynesboro, PA, and Alicia (Andrew) Tammaro, of Horseheads, 6 grandchildren, Selah, Delaney, Theodore Karkan and Sawyer, Hudson, Declan Tammaro, one brother Craig (Melinda) Rhyne, of Telford, TN, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Corning Christian Academy, 11 Aisne St. Corning, NY 14830.

 

There will be a celebration of Ed’s life at 11am on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. 1st Street, Corning, NY with Pastor Aaron Duvall and Pastor Paul Piraino of Victory Highway Wesleyan Church officiating. The family is asking that masks be worn at the service.

There will also be a livestream viewing location at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church at that time. Mr. Rhyne's service will remain online at this link below and can be viewed at your convenience.
