Charlotte M. Jacobus, age 87, of Brooksville, FL, entered into eternal rest with her best friend Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Brooksville.
Charlotte was born on June 20, 1934 in Big Flats, NY to Kenneth and Helen (Branch) Jones. She graduated from Northside High School and Elmira Business Institute. She married Theodore B. Jacobus, Jr. on August 25, 1951 in Big Flats.
She worked for Corning Glass Works, American Lung Association, Dresser-Rand, and Corning Incorporated for many years and then retired.
In her early years, she was a skillful hunter and bagged many nice bucks. She enjoyed nature and time with friends and family at Butterfield Lake. She was very talented at keeping a fine home and preparing family meals. She was a great story teller and wrote many stories, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. This world will be losing a great prayer warrior. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and had a mother’s heart for her family. She established a college fund for her grandchildren from money she received from selling items she crocheted. Charlotte loved to travel, having visited Alaska, Hawaii, Israel, Czech Republic, and most every state in the US.
She is survived by her husband, Ted; daughters: Deborah (Ed) Connett of Painted Post, Mary (Gerald) Goodridge of Big Flats, Rebecca (James) Price of Deltona, FL, and Denise (Paul) Wilcox of Surgoinsville, TN; son, Mark (Tanya) Jacobus of Corning; sisters, Barbara Johnson of Clearwater, FL and Eleanor Theetge of Horseheads; brother-in-law, Glenn (Fran) Jacobus of Painted Post; sister-in-law, Elma Jacobus of Henderson, NY; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her grandson, Eddie Connett, II; nephew, Kimberleigh Jones; brothers, Paul Jones and Harold Jones; and her sister, Kathleen Johnson.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 12th from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Vaughn VanSkiver officiating. Burial will be in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats.
