Thomas Edwin Lynch, age 81, of Canandaigua-Rochester area in NY, died August 25, 2021 in Corning, NY after a courageous 15-month battle with leukemia. Tom was born in Corning on June 22, 1940, the only child of Thomas and Genevieve Lynch.
He was a graduate of Corning Free Academy and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering and MBA from the University of Rochester. He began his career at Eastman Kodak in 1963, and following retirement in 1991, he established Strategic Quality Management, a consulting firm.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Tobey Lynch, and three children: Tom and wife (Andrea), Brian and wife (Lori), and Jennifer and husband (David) Topa. He was known as “Papa” to his 9 grandchildren: Caroline (Kamal), Anna, Tommy, Jack, Harrison, Sam, Molly, Jane and Wendy. Tom was most proud of his family; sharing joyful occasions, their activities and accomplishments. He especially enjoyed time with them at his home on Canandaigua Lake. During his life he had traveled with Nancy to all 50 states (enjoying many historic lodges in the national parks), 38 countries and all continents except Antarctica.
His family would like to thank Dr. O’Dwyer, Lucy, Mary and the entire team at Wilmot Cancer Center for their compassionate care and friendship. They also want to thank Jen and the Bampa’s House volunteers for comforting Tom in his last days and enabling him to fulfill his wish to make it full circle.
A private Christian burial will be held for the family, and a Memorial Mass will be held later at the convenience of the family.
