Alice Pearl (Brown) Ballard, age 93, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Caton, NY and Lawrenceville, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2021.
Alice was born to Leroy and Edith Pearl Brown in Gillette, PA, on January 6, 1928. She was a graduate of Troy High School in Troy, PA. She attended Bob Jones University and in 1976 graduated from Elmira College with a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist. She worked as a long-term substitute teacher for the Corning-Painted Post School District and in later years was an adult literacy tutor.
On August 22, 1948, she married Charles Edward Ballard who preceded her in death on September 17, 1999. Alice and Chuck were active members of Caton Bible Chapel for many years. Among other things, they worked with the youth and were known for their hospitality. Alice worked with the women’s and music ministries. She directed the choir, vespers, played the organ and piano and loved to sing. She enjoyed teaching piano students in her home for many years. For the past four years Alice attended the First Baptist Church in Silvis, IL.
Alice was a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed her flowers, playing Scrabble, and doing puzzles. She and Chuck loved to travel and took many trips throughout the states and abroad. Above all, she loved the Lord and showed it in the way she served others. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and friend and was loved and respected by many.
Alice is survived by her children: David (Karen) Ballard of Lindley, NY, Kathy Card of Corning, NY, Ruth (Mike) Einfeldt of East Moline, IL, and Mark (Kelley) Ballard of West Chester, PA. She leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jonathan Charles, and infant daughter, Beth Alicia, as well as by her beloved siblings, Lewis Brown and Marian Campagna.
A private burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Caton, NY will be held by the family with a memorial service to be held at a later date.

Alice’s family entrusted her care to Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL and Haughey Funeral Home Inc., Corning, NY.
