John Joseph Gruczkowski, age 88, of Corning, NY died on Friday, June 4, 2021 at his home in Corning.
John was born on September 24, 1932 in Scranton, PA to John Karl and Alexandria (Kurek) Gruczkowski.
John served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He went to Minor Seminary, Noviate at Our Lady Queen of Peace Friary in Middleburg, NY where he took vows as a Franciscan OFM Conv. He went to seminary for philosophy for two years then moved to Corning. He started House of Flowers on Market Street with Fran McGuiness. John sold his business and retired in 2000.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 9th from 10 AM until Noon at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning with Father Matthew Jones officiating.
