Judith Ann Barron, age 77, of Lindley, NY died Sunday, April 18, 2021 at her home.
Judy was born on August 13, 1943 in Susquehanna, PA to Howard and Ruth (Washburn) Griffis. Judy was a graduate of Susquehanna High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education from Baptist Bible Seminary. She was a County All Star basketball player in high school, scoring 34 plus points per game. She married Paul Barron on May 1, 1965 in Brushville, PA. She taught elementary school for a short time. She and Paul ran their own building supply company.
Judy was a highly respected Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker for Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, winning all the top awards; Platinum, President’s Council and National Sales Excellence Award.
She was first licensed in 1984 with Ambrose Real Estate Company and joined the Elmira-Corning Regional Association of Realtors (ECRAR) in 1985. She served on every committee at the board office but her favorite being the Education Committee which she chaired for several years.
Judy also held a seat on the ECRAR’s Board of Directors for nearly 20 years, including the offices of Secretary, Vice President, President-Elect and served as its President in 2004.
Judy was named ECRAR Realtor of the Year in 2004 and again in 2019 in recognition of her involvement and dedication to the association.
Judy was actively involved in the NY State Association of Realtors (NYSAR) as well as attending its business meetings and leadership training, serving on numerous committees, its Board of Directors and as President of NYSAR’s Real Estate Education Foundation.
Judy was also among the nearly 14,000 Realtors, from across the country, who traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the “Realtor Rally” held by the National Association of Realtors at the Washington Monument in 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Lindley; daughters, Brenda (Dr. Craig) Burrows of Morehead, KY and Beverly (Kevin) Eagen of Honolulu, HI; two sons, Brad (Heather) Barron of Chatham, VA and Brent (Mina) Barron of Caton, NY; sister, Sally (Philip) Robb of Atlanta, GA; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Judy was predeceased by her siblings, Sonny (Sandy) and Janet.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 23rd from Noon - 3 PM at East Lindley Baptist Church, 10039 Tannery Creek Road in Lindley where funeral services will follow at 3 PM with Pastor Sheldon Roblyer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Judy’s name to East Lindley Baptist Church, 10039 Tannery Creek Road, Corning, NY 14830.
