June A. Betts

June A. Betts, age 94, of Painted Post, NY, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at her home.

 

She was born November 9, 1926 in Riverside, NY. She was the daughter of David and Flossie (Blencowe) Stewart. She married Lester Betts on April 3, 1948 in Painted Post, NY, and they had 73 happy years together. 

 

June was secretary for the Painted Post Press in Painted Post for 35 years and a member of the Town of Corning Board for 19 years. She also served as Vice President of the Steuben County Equal Opportunity Program in Bath, NY for 12 years. She was a member of the Beartown Road Alliance Church in Painted Post. June was known by so many in the community by her friendly spirit and always offering a hug and warm smile. She opened her home to people far and wide, strangers and loved ones alike, never letting a person leave hungry. She will be sorely missed, but we, as her family, rejoice that we will meet her again in heaven with the Lord she loved so well.

 

She is survived by her husband, Lester Betts; daughters, Sharon (Rev. James) Krouse of New Brighton, PA and Marilyn (Rev. Andrew) Kerr of Painted Post, NY; grandchildren: Tim (Carinda) Kerr of Southern Pines, NC, Bill (Heather) Kerr serving in the Air Force in Sicily, Italy, Steven Kerr of Milford, DE, Bethany (Joseph) Rogers serving in the Air Force in Germany, Stephanie Krouse of Lancaster, PA, Jonathan Krouse of New York City, NY; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

June was predeceased by her sister, Josie Morse; brothers, Dallis and Leland Stewart; great grandson, Brandon Kerr; great granddaughter, Julie Ann Krouse; and sister-in-law, Martalea Stewart.

 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 12th from 10:00 AM – Noon at Beartown Road Alliance Church, 21 Beartown Road in Painted Post, where funeral services will follow at Noon with Pastor Dave Bretch and Rev. Jesse Peace officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Beartown Road Alliance Church Facebook page. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Painted Post.
