Steven J. Huber, age 49, of Corning, NY, died on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.
Steve was born on December 12, 1971 in Corning to David and Nancy (Sparks) Huber. He was a graduate of Corning East High School class of 1990 and Long Island University at Southampton class of 1995.
He was employed at Demet’s in Big Flats as a buyer and enjoyed the work and his colleagues. In high school, Steve played JV Sports and was active in the music and drama departments. Steve loved volunteering at Casowasco Camp and Retreat Center, the Corning LPGA, and serving on the planning committee of Paint the Night Pink, a local organization raising awareness and funds to help cancer patients at Falck Cancer Center at Arnot Health. He was a faithful, avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and a long-time season ticket holder. Steve was an Eagle Scout of Troop 61.
Steve is survived by his parents, David and Nancy Huber; his brother, Michael (Karina) Huber of Lake Junaluska, NC; nephew and niece, Ethan and Sydney Huber; aunts, Phyllis (Robert) VanGiesen of Auburn, NY and Diane (Edgar) Robertson of Flippen, AR; as well as an extended family of cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 4th from Noon until 1:30 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 East First Street in Corning where a service will follow for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Steve’s name to Falck Cancer Center Patient Services Fund, with PTNP in the memo, at 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905.
Steve’s family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
