Glenn E. Doebler

Glenn E. Doebler, age 82, of Painted Post, NY, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Corning, NY.  Mr. Doebler was born July 12, 1938 in Altoona, PA.

 

He is the son of Lee and Leona (Feather) Doebler. He married the love of his life, Marlene Blendl, on August 3, 1963 in Altoona, PA, and they were married for 57 years.

 

Glenn was a 1956 graduate of Altoona High School. After 4 years in the Air Force, serving in the prestigious USAF Security Service in Misawa, Japan, Glenn entered Penn State University Campus Altoona Associate Engineering program, graduating in 1962. He graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976 and Syracuse University with a Master of Business Administration degree in 1980. In 1962 he was employed by Corning Incorporated in Corning in the Main Plant BEC in Production Planning. He worked in International Business and the remaining years in Serengeti Sunglasses as a supervisor of production.

 

He was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish in Corning and served on the liturgy committee. He served as a lector, eucharistic minister, and served on the parish council as president for three years and chairman of the 1984 Appeal. Glenn loved golfing, boating, snowmobiling, reading, and architectural drawing of buildings. He spent many summers on Keuka Lake houseboating, boating through the canals on weekends, and spent time on the houseboat on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Glenn enjoyed making wine to give as gifts and made his own labels that he loved to draw. He had many great memories of snowmobiling with his son, Jeff.

 

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Marlene (Blendl) Doebler; one son, Jeffrey Doebler of Rochester, NY, who brought much happiness to his life; brother, Robert (Cathy) Doebler of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; several nieces and nephews.

 

He is predeceased by his brother, Donald Doebler.

 

Glenn loved his family and friends very much. To honor that love in light of COVID-19, out of concern for everyone’s health and safety, Marlene and Jeffrey will be having a private Mass. They are requesting friends to pay their respects to Glenn from home through prayer and kindness.
