Edith Mae Shinners, age 92, of Corning, NY fell into the arms of her loving Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Elderwood Health Care in Waverly, NY.
Edie was born on May 15, 1926 in Wellsboro, PA to George and Laura (Wilcox) Stevens. She married Robert “Shine” Shinners, Jr. on February 12, 1947 and was predeceased by him on November 13, 2004.
She was employed by JP Morgan Chase Bank in Corning for many years. She was a member of the Rosary Society, Hospital Chapter B, Corning Elks, Women’s Club, and the Altar Society. Edith enjoyed cooking and vacationing at her home in the Adirondack’s.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Shinners of Elmira Heights; son, Steve (Mary Ann) Shinners of Owego; grandchildren, Lindsay (Matthew) Harnden of Lewiston, ME and Colin (Kelin) Shinners of San Francisco, CA; several loving nieces and nephews. Edie was predeceased by her brother, Robert Stevens and a sister, Ruth Fowler.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 8th from 4 – 6 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 9th at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning with Father Lewis Brown officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
