William Francis Mara, age 85, of Morrcrest Drive in Corning, NY died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Corning Hospital.\n\n\nBill was born March 4, 1928 in Syracuse to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mara. He was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School in Syracuse, Cornell University Department of Food Sciences, and a Masters at Penn State in Food Technology. From 1952 until 1955 he served his country in the US Army. \n\n\nBill worked for several companies in the Northeast as a senior production manager. He retired from Eastern Shore Seafood of Mappsville, VA in 1996. \n\n\nHe is survived by his beloved companion of 29 years, Leonarda "Lee" Fraker of Corning; daughter, Susan (Edward) Marino of Mays Landing, NJ; a son, Michael Mara of Norfolk, VA; granddaughter, Victoria Whittaker of Berlin, NJ; step daughter, Diana Fraker Newton of Dover, DE; step grandsons, Joshua Newton and Daniel Newton.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Saturday, January 11th from 10 AM until 11:30 AM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 11th at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning.
