Victoria Dorthea Berto, formerly of John Street, Corning, passed into eternity on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Absolut Care At Three Rivers in Painted Post. Prior to becoming a resident at Three Rivers, she was lovingly cared for by Beth and Rob Prentice of the River Road. Victoria was born on December 21, 1915 in Corning to Charles and Josephine (Pasquerella) Negri. She was devoted to her parents, siblings and their Italian heritage. She married Louis Anthony Berto, Sr. on January 1, 1934. Her husband predeceased her on April 9, 1971. Victoria (Vicky) worked for Corning Glass Works until her retirement from the Fluidics Facility in January 1976. She was affectionately known as "The Cookie Lady". She made Christmas and Easter very special for many years with holiday baking. She was a wonderfully caring friend and neighbor, always ready with a home-cooked meal for anyone feeling under-the-weather. She was predeceased by a son, Louis A. Berto, Jr., sisters: Florence Crans, Philomena Ruocco, Frances Agosta and brothers: James, Tony and Michael. She is survived by her daughter Carol Ann (Norm) Smith, grandson, Ryan, brother, Rich (Sissy) Negri, sister, Irene Hanley and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 5th from 9-10AM at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
