Truman Breon, Jr., age 89, of Corning, NY died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.\n\n\nTruman was born on August 26, 1925 in Corning to Truman and Josephine (Sherman) Breon, Sr. He attended Northside Blodgett High School and at age 18 entered the Navy Seabees, serving from 1943 to 1945 including time in Okinawa.\n\n\nTruman was a loyal dedicated 44-year employee of Corning Glass Works, spending most of that time at the Fall Brook Plant. He was a hardworking family man who truly enjoyed all family events. As the family grew, so did his love for each one. Truman was well known for his great sense of humor. Over the years, Truman enjoyed hobbies like gardening, hunting, fishing, and family traveling adventures especially to the Lancaster, PA area.\n\n\nHe is survived by his loving wife Mertie; three daughters: Kay Button (Dave) Hayes, Linda (Jeff) Moshier, and Barb (Jim) McNeill, all in the Corning area; a son, David (Debbie) Breon of Christiansburg, VA; sister, Mary (Tony) Negri; brother, Lawrence (Delores) Breon; sisters-in-law, Patricia Breon and Marian Dilly; grandchildren: Jeremy Button, Jennifer (Brad) Cramer, Stefanie Moshier, Amanda (Jason) Roblyer, Luke (Caitlin) McNeill, Sarah McNeill, and Alexandra Shaw Breon; great grandchildren: Andrew, Aaron, and Aiden Cramer, Alivia, Lydia, Austin, and Lilyanna Roblyer, and Delilah McNeill; many nieces and nephews. Truman was predeceased by his brothers: Lester, Leonard, Leon, and Harold Breon; and by a sister, Marie Wenck.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Friday, January 16th from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Lonny DeWalt officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Corning.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in Truman's name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
