Shirley Ann (Skidmore) Palombo passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2014. She was born on January 31, 1935 and was raised in Corning, NY and married Jack Palombo on September 14, 1957.\n \nShirley was a homemaker and worked at JC Penny. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos. Her biggest passion was her alma mater, Northside High School, from which she graduated in 1954. Shirley spent 10 years on the alumni committee and celebrated the 60th reunion in June 2014. Shirley's second passion was her Red Hat Club - The Crystal City Chicks. She has been the queen for 10 years.\n \nShirley was predeceased by her husband; parents, Donald and Eva Skidmore; a sister, Mildred Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Grace Palombo.\n \nShirley is survived by her son Stephen (Susan McPherson) Palombo; grandchildren, Randy (Angie) Palombo and Kyle Palombo; step grandchildren, Brandon (Lauren) McPherson and Annie (Justin) Horton; great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Erik Palombo, Bryson McPherson, Lilyanna and Lyla Horton.\n \nThere will be no calling hours and private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 3rd after 3 PM at the family home in Coopers Plains.\n \nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care First (Hospice) or the American Cancer Society.\n \nThe family entrusted Shirley's care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
