Shelvy Jean Borden Obituary (1939 - 2021)

Shelvy Jean Borden, age 81, of Steuben Street in Painted Post, NY passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post. Shelvy was born on November 24, 1939 in Elmira, NY to Raymond and Alice (Ellis) Schmidt. She married Raymond Borden, the love of her life, on November 27, 1957 in Elmira and was predeceased by him on January 9, 2017. She worked for the Corning Painted Post School District as the head cook at Northside Blodgett. Shelvy enjoyed spending time at Seneca Lake with her family, crafting, and doing word searches. She enjoyed rummage sales and could spot one from a mile away! She was a dedicated member of the "Fearsome Five" and loved to gossip. Shelvy loved many things in life, but especially loved coffee and donuts with her friends in the morning. She is survived by her daughters, Terry (James) Potter of Presho, NY and Tina Borden of Elmira; sons, Randy (Paula) Borden of Campbell, NY and Gary (Gretchen) Borden of Presho; grandchildren: Doug (Catherine) Webb, Ashley (Clay) Coker, Jessica Borden, and Alex Lese; great grandchildren: Nolan, Dalton, Mekhi, Riley, Jaxson, and Luke. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
