Ronald L. Wood, age 69, of Corning, NY died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.\n\n\nRon was born September 11, 1946 in Elmira to Percy and Marjorie (Thom) Wood. He married Diane Henrich on January 14, 1967 in Elmira, NY. Ron worked for Keeler Construction in Corning for over 30 years. He was a dedicated volunteer at Watkins Glen Racetrack as a course marshal for R.S.I for 37 years where he was a father figure to many. He served as campground mayor and will be missed by all.\n\n\nHis survivors include his wife, Diane; a son, Michael (Kathy) Wood of Corning; two daughters, Wendy (Wally) Harrington of Corning and Kristy (Eddie) Castellana of Painted Post; five sisters: Pamela Sowersby of Arizona; Sandra Wood of Las Vegas, NV; Debra Retterer of Corning; Cheryl Lafreniere of North Tonawanda, NY, and Cindy (Ed) Schmidt of Corning, NY; a brother, George Anderson of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren: Andrew, Meghan, Cody, Hollie, Alexis, Sam, Danielle, Brooke, Kaylee, and Courtney; great grandchildren, Garrett, Devyn, Collyn, Caden, Braden, Desi, Aiden, and Lilly; many nieces and nephews.\n\n\n\nCalling hours will be on Sunday, November 22nd from noon until 3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. Following calling hours, there will be a celebration of his life at the VFW on Baker Street in Corning from 3 until 6 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 23rd. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Corning.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in Ron's name to your local SPCA.
