Ronald J. Kolcun, age 72, of Corning, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. \n\n\nRon was born on September 16, 1945 in Corning to Andrew and Anne (Bobrik) Kolcun. He married Alice Surber on October 31, 1993 in Tampa, Florida and was predeceased by her on January 10, 2012. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Tampa Fire Department in 1994. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing.\n\n\nHe is survived by his son, Chris (Lezli) Kolcun of Conover, NC; daughter, Cathy (Brian Buchman) Kolcun of Brooklyn, NY; son, David (Beth) Kolcun of Woodbridge, VA; step son, Marc (Rachel) Hubbard of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Alicia, Jesseca, Dillon, Riley, Norah, Jenna, and Avery; sister, Vicki (Bob) Loughridge of Churchville, NY; several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Kolcun; and his sister Cynthia (Jerry) Miller.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Friday, August 31st from 3 - 5 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 1st at St. Joseph's Church, 8505 Main Street in Campbell at 10:00 AM with Father Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. \n\n\nMemorial donations may be made to your local fire department in Ron's name.\n\n\nRon's family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
