Robert L. Wensel, 58, of Currie, N.C. passed away on September 18, 2013.\n\nRobert was a 1973 graduate of Corning West High School and a graduate of Corning Community College. He was employed by Corning Incorporated for 29 years and relocated to Wilmington NC in 1998 where he traveled internationally for the company. \n\nRobert is survived by his sons, Garrett R. Wensel and Mitchell C. Wensel (Corning, NY), Jereme Wensel (Hammondsport, NY), his brothers Donald L. Wensel (Endicott, NY), Thomas A. Wensel (Corning, NY), Terry L. Wensel (Corning, NY), Michael P. Wensel (Charlotte, NC) and was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence L. Wensel (father) and Patricia A. Wensel (mother); and Timothy M. Wensel (brother).\n\nBob was a very hard working and dedicated man, but he also enjoyed riding his Harley, woodworking, and carpentry. He completed much of the interior work on his home in Currie. Bob was fortunate to be able to see many parts of the world throughout his lifetime. Around the Wilmington plant, he was known as "the mad scientist".\n\nBob will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.\n\nCalling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 1st from 1-3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with the Reverend Mary Lewis officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the American Red Cross.\n\n\nBob's family have entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
