Rita V. Donnelly Obituary (1929 - 2017)

Rita V. Donnelly, age 87, of Painted Post, NY passed away peacefully Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post. Rita was born July 9, 1929 in Karlsruhe, Germany, to Alfonse and Maria (Striegel) Schmieder. She married William J. Donnelly on September 18, 1954 in Karlsuhe, Germany. She was predeceased by him on Oct. 7, 2002. Rita worked as a contractor for Corning Glass Works. She enjoyed meeting new people that would come from all over the world and visit the museum. Rita is survived by her granddaughters: Cherie (Ed Mattison) Donnelly and Ryan Ann Donnelly; great-grandchildren: Mitch and Angelina Mattison and Aaron, Dillon, and Joseph William Donnelly; brother, Harry (Helga) Schmieder; nieces, Manuela, Sire, Sala; great nephew, Dennis and great niece, VeRena from Germany. She was predeceased by her sons: William J. Donnelly, Jr. and Hans Donnelly, and her brother, Reinhold Schmieder. Calling hours will be Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 1 at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. with burial at St. Mary's Cemetery immediately following.
