Raymond P. LaShure, age 88, of Painted Post died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Corning Hospital surrounded by his loving family.\n\n\n\n\nRay was born on April 11, 1923 in Savanah, NY to Floyd and Pauline (Jackson) LaShure. He married Grace Avagliano on June 2, 1956 in St. Mary's Church. He served in the Army during World War II in Japan. He received four Bronze Stars, Asiatic - Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Raymond worked for Corning Glass Works from 1952 to 1955, and for the Ingersoll-Rand Company in Painted Post from 1955 until his retirement in 1985 as a tool and die maker. \n\n\n\n\nRay enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching baseball, especially the Mets, hockey and football. He looked forward to going to McDonalds everyday with his friends . He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion in Corning, and Company K in Hornell. \n\n\n\n\nHe is survived by his wife, Grace; one daughter, Mary Beth LaShure of Painted Post; three sons, Frank LaShure of Painted Post, James Lashure of Painted Post, and Raymond (Marylin) LaShure of Austintown, OH; sister: Mary LaShure of Seneca Falls, NY; granddaughters, Jessica and Kathryn LaShure; brother-in-law, Fran Avagliano of Corning, NY; several nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Betty Shaw, brothers-in-law, Thomas Avagliano and William Shaw.\n\n\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
