Rodney Stone, age 83, of Route 415 in Campbell, NY died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY.\n\n\nRodney was born May 15, 1929 in Prattsburg, NY to Bert and Florence (Hulse) Stone. He married Grace Peck in 1949 in Elmira and he was preceded in death by her in 2006. \n\nHis working career included the Penn Yan Boat Company, Ashland Oil Company in Painted Post, Stone's Garage in partnership with his son Gary, and the Corning Leader as a rural route carrier. Rodney loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed four-wheeler rides, camping, travelling, working in the yard, and mowing his lawn. He looked forward to Wednesdsay card night with his family. Every Saturday morning anyone was welcome to stop by and have a cup of coffee and discuss life. \n\n\nHe is survived by three daughters, Trudy (William) Gauss of Leesburg, FL, Jerry (Douglas) Horton, and Vicky (Khiem) Nguyen; two sons, Dan (Jacqueline) Stone and Leon (Hope) Stone, all of Campbell; daughter-in-law, Melanie Stone of Campbell; brother, Ray (Clara) Stone of New Jersey; sisters-in-law, Jean Peck of Corning, Madeline Smith of Painted Post, Brenda Brewster of Wayland; 33 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his son, Gary Stone, brothers, Duty, Charles, Vrooman, and Paul Stone; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Wagner.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 14 from 1-3 and 6-8 at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First Street in Corning. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 15 at Curtis Baptist Bible Church, 4297 Tannery Road in Campbell with Pastor Dale Ingraham officiating.
