Michele Elaine Dewalt, age 72, of Corning, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after an 8-year battle with Alzheimer's on Tuesday Evening, October 19, 2021 at Guthrie Corning Hospital in Corning, NY. Michele was born January 26, 1949 in Elmira, NY. She is the daughter of Gerald and Martha (McCarty) Frost. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy High School in Elmira, NY and received a teaching degree from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. Following college, she was an Elementary Education Teacher at Horseheads Christian School for 9 years, and became a pastor's wife when she married Lonny C. Dewalt on December 23, 1978. Michele faithfully loved and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her husband and family, and the people of West Caton Baptist Church for 36 years as a teacher, counselor, caregiver, comforter and friend. She was a wise, kind and generous mother and wife who always brightened up the day of everyone around her. Her love and compassion for everyone made her a beacon of light for her friends, family, neighbors and church family. She was also a key part of the Dewalt & Sons General Contracting team located in Corning, NY. Her gentle voice, mannerisms, and wise counsel will be sadly missed. She is survived by her husband, Lonny C. Dewalt; daughters, Karis (Thomas) Hajjar of Corning and Elizabeth "Libby" Dewalt of Corning; sons, Aaron Dewalt of Corning and David Dewalt of Corning; and grandchildren: Violet, Alexandria, Hawkins, and Elaina. All are welcome to a memorial service and opportunity to meet her family at West Caton Baptist Church, 10663 West Caton Road in Corning, NY on Friday, October 29th with calling hours from 4-6pm and a praise and memorial service at 6pm. There will be food and refreshments at 7pm for those in attendance. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Caton Baptist Church, 10663 West Caton Road, Corning, NY 14830 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620. Michele's family entrusted her earthly care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to care for her in that place prepared in Heaven (John 14:1-6), for those who put their faith in Him. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, but greatly sought out by those who have trusted in her Savior, Jesus Christ when they arrive in the place Christ has prepared for them.
