Mary C. (McLychok) Mikolajczak, of Commerce Street in Corning, NY died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at age 95.\n\n\nShe was the daughter of Frank and Catherine Czemerys Mikolajczak. Mary graduated from the Corning Free Academy. She was a member of the former Corning Youth Recreation Committee Dramatic Section, the Elmira Polish Arts Club, and The Rockwell Museum. Mary was also a communicant of All Saints Parish, and Past President of the former Corning Deanery Council of Catholic Women. She was also a lector at St. Patrick's Church. Mary was a retiree of Corning Inc. with 42 years of service. The majority of these years were spent as an Executive Secretary in the Research and Development Division at Sullivan Park. \n\n\nHer lifelong interest in theatre arts began with the Saint Patrick's Dramatic Club. She both acted and directed plays in the Corning and Painted Post Little Theatre Guild and the Corning Workshop Players. Mary treasured enduring friendships and family ties. She enjoyed gardening, kept a garden journal, and could tell you when the first robin came in the spring and when the first and last frosts were. She was a tasty cook baking beads and paskas, and she even made wine. Mary wrote a family history and genealogy and was very proud of her Polish heritage and the beloved, saintly Polish Pope John Paul II.\n\n\nMary is survived by a sister, Frances Mikolajczak; a sister in law, Marilyn McLychok of Santa Barbara, California; nephews, R. Alan(Joan) Satterly, John(Jill) Satterly, John Gregory(Kathleen) McLychok, Michael(Loni) McLychok, and Mark(Jeanine) McLychok; nieces, Paula(Eric) Childs, Stephanie Paul, and Suzanne(Bradford) Shaffer; a godson, Chip Satterly and a goddaughter, Joy Dowling Einhorn.\n\n\nOther grand nieces and nephews who will grieve their beloved ciocia (Auntie) are; Karen Bensch, Laura and Stephen Satterly, Katie Wright, Christopher Childs, Melissa Fryer, Emery and Claire Carter. Mia, Sean, Ian, Max and Foster McLychok, Julianna Satterly, and Melanie Shaffer.\n\n\nMary was predeceased by a brother, Dr. John McLychok, and a sister, Pauline Satterly, and a niece, Mary Catherine Carter who was named after Mary.\n\n\nThe family is grateful to all our dear friends too numerous to mention, and caregivers, who have been so helpful. Our wish is that you have such jewels as your neighbors and friends.\n\n\nThe family will provide flowers. Memorial donations may be made to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Ave, Corning, NY 14830, Mt. Savior Monastery, Pine City, NY 14871, or Steubenville Youth Ministry.\n\n\nCalling hours for Mary will be from 10 to 11AM on Monday, September 2, 2013, in the entrance of St. Mary's Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM, offered by Father John Forni. Committal services will be in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery immediately following. Friends may come to the family residence after 3PM to offer condolences.\n\n\n\nMary's family have entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
