Marilyn L. Phelps, age 84, of Corning, NY passed on to Paradise on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY. \n\n\nMarilyn was born on February 11, 1933 in Corning to Leon and Agnes Sargent.\n\n\nHer faith in God is her salvation. Marilyn had a wonderful soprano voice and loved using it. She enjoyed drawing, cooking, needlepoint and traveling.\n\n\nHer survivors include her sister Velma Beaulieu; sister-in-law, Lois Sargent; son, Joseph (Jennie) Phelps; daughter, Denise (Daryl) Drake; son, David Phelps; daughter, Deborah (R. Steve) Hanshaw; grandchildren, Larry Ordway, Stacey Ordway, Vernon VanZile, Jason (Missy) VanZile, Desiree Phelps, Ashley Phelps, Christina Hanshaw, Steven Hanshaw, and several great grandchildren. \n\n\nMarilyn was predeceased by her husband Lyle Phelps; son, Steven Phelps; brothers, Richard, Floyd, Carl, and Leon; sisters, Marguerite and Phyliss.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Thursday, January 11th from 1-3 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 3 PM with Reverend Earl Whittaker officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Painted Post.\n\n\nMarilyn's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
