Marilyn S. Bockus

Marilyn S. Bockus, 91, of Lindley, NY passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY.

Born August 16, 1931, Marilyn was the daughter of Theodore F. Smith and Lillian G. Smith (Goldbrugh). She graduated from Northside High School in Corning in June 1949. She married Carl L. Bockus on January 4, 1950, and he predeceased her in 1973.

She was a bus driver for Tobey Bus lines. She was also employed by Community Bank for over 20 years. She served as Treasurer and was on the Board of Trustees for over 30 years for the Salvation Army. She served as tax assessor for the Town of Caton for over 16 years and continued to volunteer for the Town of Caton until August 2018.

Marilyn was a great lover of Gospel Music and supporter of Family Life Ministries. She was a 40-year member of Emmanuel Community Church of Elmira. She was also a past member of Caton Bible Chapel.

She is survived by her children: Beverly (Warren) Foote of Mt. Jewett, Pa, E. Elaine Askins, Anna Oakley and Leland (Linda) Bockus, all of Lindley, NY; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Mike Durkin, George (Marty) Wheaton, Ed Askins and Jodi Smith.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers: Franklin Smith, Brother Francis Xavier (James) and Walter Smith; daughters, Patricia Hartwell and Darlene Wheaton; son-in-law, Robin Oakley; and grandson, Shannon Oakley.

Calling hours will be Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. 1st Street in Corning from 11AM-1PM with the funeral service directly following, officiated by Rev. Mark Waters. Burial will be in Powers Cemetery, Lawrenceville, PA.

Marilyn's family has entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
