Madeline Elizabeth Smith, age 90, of Painted Post, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Guthrie Corning Hospital.\n\n\nMadeline was born on May 11, 1924 in Naples, NY to Wendell and Minnie (Reamer) Domm. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clifford Peck (1942-1984) and Clayton "Pete" Smith (1989-2012). Madeline worked for Corning Glass Works from 1961 until her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed reading, crocheting blankets for residents of The Waters of Three Rivers and Emeritus, and playing games with friends and family. Madeline was active in Sunday school and Bible study meetings, and loved to tend her flowers and bird feeders. Until the day she became ill, she exercised 3 days a week at Healthworks.\n\n\nShe was happy attending to the needs of others, giving words of encouragement and being a friend to many. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was never happier than when she spent time with them. They were all very special to her. \n\n\nMadeline was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Peck Magee; son, Clifford Peck; great grandson, Christopher Alpha; sisters, Ethel Steinmetz and Barbara Riesenberger; brothers, Gordon, Alfred, William, and Clifford Domm. \n\n\nShe is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Andrew) Kacyon of Painted Post and Carolyn (Richard) Anderson of Painted Post; daughter-in-law, Cathy Peck of Bedford, PA; step daughter, Janice Smith of New York, NY; step daughter, Carijean Smith of Westerville, OH; step son, Clayton "Pete" (Darlene) Smith of Campbell; grandchildren, Wendy (Jim) Allard, Carrie (Chris) Alpha, Curt Simmons, C. Scott (Angela) Peck, Valerie (Ryan) Mackey, Kenneth (Rhonda) Magee, Patrick (Laura) Magee, and Krista (Michael) Bower; step grandchildren, Shannon Keller, Cortney Hrasdzira, Mackenna and Amelia Smith; 16 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; special nephew, James Doneley of North Cohocton, NY; several nieces and nephews.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 8th from 11 AM until 1 PM at Beartown Road Alliance Church, 21 Beartown Road in Painted Post where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM.\n\n\nBurial will be in Townsend-Erwin Cemetery in Painted Post. The family will provide flowers and ask that donations be given to Beartown Road Alliance Church, 21 Beartown Road, Painted Post, NY 14870; Alzheimer's Association, Rochester Chapter, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620; American Cancer Society; or to the American Heart Association.\n\n\nMadeline's family entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
