Leland M. Stewart, age 89, of Corning, NY went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 23, 2014 at his home. Lee was born on March 11, 1925 in Riverside, NY to David and Flossie (Blencowe) Stewart. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. He married Martelea Pock on April 10, 1947 in her parents home on Spencer Hill in Corning. Lee was an inventory analyst for Ingersoll-Rand in Painted Post for 36 years before his retirement in 1982. Lee was an active member of West Caton Baptist Church, a member of the Garden Club, Elmira Stamp Club, Ingersoll-Rand Service Association, and volunteered for several years at Meals-On-Wheels. Lee loved fishing, ice fishing, and hunting, especially with his friends. He also gave over 19 gallons of his blood to the Red Cross over the years, and was one pint short of the 20 gallon award. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lea; a sister, June (Lester) Betts of Corning, NY; brother-in-law, Charles Pock of Surprise, AZ; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many friends. Lee was predeceased by his sister, Josie Morse, and by his brother, Dallis Stewart. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 29th from Noon until 2 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Lonny DeWalt officiating. Burial will be in Barnard Cemetery in Corning. Memorial donations may be made to West Caton Baptist Church or to Corning Meals-On-Wheels. Lea entrusted Lee's care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
