Katherine Ellison (Maio) age 93, formerly of Ellison Road, Corning, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, April 7, 2018. \n\nKatherine was born in Corning to Harry and Philomena (Peppicelli) Maio. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Earl Boyce Ellison in 2008.\n\nKatherine is survived by her daughters, Nancy (George) Sproule of McCormick, SC, Bonita (MO) Kent of Pultneyville, NY, Sharon (David) Miller of Painted Post, and Deborah Button of Corning; son, David (Elizabeth) Ellison of Mashpee, MA; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; beloved sisters and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews.\n\nKatherine was employed by Corning Glass Works for 37 years. She was a member of The Third Order of St. Francis and was a life-long communicant of St. Mary's Church in Corning. Katie was a feisty, loving woman who enjoyed spending quality time with her family. Katie enjoyed riding horses, playing cards and was an avid NY Yankees fan.\n\nFamily and friends are invited to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 11th at 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church 155 State Street in Corning.
