Josephine "Nanny" Coleman, age 87, of East Second Street in Corning, NY died on Friday, September 21, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born on September 17, 1925 in Dunmore, PA to Michael and Mary (Vavrek) Sibio. She married Robert Coleman, Sr. on July 30, 1949 at St. Patrick's Church in Corning. She retired from Nichols Discount Store in Painted Post, NY as a manager of the toy department in 1986. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Coleman, Sr. on January 10, 2010. She was a life-long member of All Saints Parish. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to cook and bake for her family. She surprised each of her grandchildren every year with specially decorated homemade birthday cakes. Everyone enjoyed her Sunday dinners and Christmas goodies. "Nanny" was loved by many. She is survived by three daughters, Judy (Earl) Travis, Marie Coleman, and Donna Roe all of Corning; daughter-in-law, Mary Coleman of Victor, NY; six grandchildren, Jesse (Dana) Coleman of Atlanta, GA, Robert Coleman, III of New York City, Joseph Coleman of Victor, Emily Roe of Corning, Shawn Roe of Corning, Thomas Roe of Corning; great granddaughter, Camille Coleman of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Clare Boise of Olyphant, PA, Ann (Ralph) Tursasky of Dickson City, PA, Mary Theresa Sibio, Charlene (Robert) Luchko and Diane (Dennis) Gleasonall of Dunmore, PA; four brothers, Frances (Maggie) Sibio of Moscow, PA, Albert (Bernadine) Sibio, John Sibio, and Richard (Chris) Sibio all of Dunmore, PA; sisters in law Jane Sibio of Dunmore PA, Clare Sibio of Clark Summit, PA; several nieces and nephews. Also very special caregivers who filled her last months with comfort and love. Sue Healy who every week for the last 34 years made Josephine look beautiful. Josephine was predeceased by her son, Robert Coleman, Jr., brothers Joe, Mike and Robert Sibio, sister Stella Provinzano. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 24 from 5 until 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First Street in Corning. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 12:45 PM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1:30 PM at St. Vincent de Paul, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning.
