Joseph E. Sojka

Joseph E. Sojka, age 81, passed away on December 11, 2023 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers.

A native of Depew, NY, Joe graduated from Erie Community College, served in the US Navy (1962-1966), then joined Corning Glass Works at Sullivan Park. While working on a CGW project in the Boston, MA area, he met and married Patricia McDermott.

Returning to Corning, NY, Joe continued his career at CGW while earning a degree from Elmira College. Eventually, he joined Toshiba from which he retired in 2005.

Joe was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and bird watcher, who was curious about seemingly everything. Foremost there was his dedication to his family.

A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind his wife, Pat; daughter, Kate; and son, David (Heather); and grandsons, Ryan and Connor. He is also survived by many out-of-town relatives.

There will be no services held. Those wishing to honor Joe are encouraged to contribute to or volunteer at the Corning Community Food Pantry or Habitat for Humanity.
