Joseph F. Gigliello, age 78, of West Third Street in Corning, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. \n\n\nJoe was born on November 30, 1938 in Lilly, PA to Louis and Frances (Agosta) Gigliello. He married Rosalie Payne in 1959.\n\n\nAfter graduating from Corning Free Academy, he served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960. Later in life he returned to college, earning an Associate's Degree from Corning Community College. He spent most of his career with Corning Incorporated as a Lab Technician in Sullivan Park's Characterization Science organization, receiving his 50 Year Pin in 2011. He was especially proud of earning 2 patents with the Corvac blood separation test tube technology.\n\n\nJoe was a lifelong member of St Mary's Church. His favorite activities always involved spending time with family & friends. He would cook & share Italian holiday traditions and homemade wine, hunt deer with the West First Street gang, spend lots of time on Waneta Lake, and just enjoy friendly conversation over a cold beer.\n\n\nJoe is survived by his wife Rosalie; two daughters, Christine (Douglas) Watters of Painted Post and Maria (Craig) Drake of Lawrenceville; son, Louis (Tammy Crans) Gigliello of Corning; sister, Geraldine "Gerry" (William) Mertson of Newark Valley, NY; six grandchildren, Michael (MacKenzie) Watters, Tyler (Cassie Stone) Hugic, Andrew Watters, Jenna Hugic, Alexis Gigliello, and Megan Gigliello; several nieces and nephews.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Thursday, August 10th from 4 - 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 11th at St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street in Corning at 9:30 AM.
