John H. "Buz" Weimer was born in Detroit, MI on February 17, 1946 and passed away on July 22, 2016. He was 70 years old. John loved his family and is survived by his cherished wife Rachel, his gracious daughter Carmen Pickering; faithful sons, Jonathan and David; and eight wonderful grandchildren. He attended Belleville High School in MI, graduated from Michigan Tech University with degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Administration. The last year of college John married Rachel Kuusisto and celebrated 47 years of marriage last September. John and Rachel spent the years of a growing family in the Corning, NY area where they faithfully attended the Grace Lee Wesleyan Church. John experienced a rewarding career of 32 years with Corning Incorporated at various locations in the USA, as well as working internationally. He made the decision to take early retirement in 2002 to participate in volunteer work. \n\nJohn loved to give back to his friends, the community, and the church. Because of his past building construction experiences, he participated in organizing and helping with numerous construction and maintenance projects for friends from his work and church contacts. For the last 40 + years, he was involved in his church outreach ministry, held various church leadership positions, as a project manager he helped organize and implement the church expansion project in 2007, and focused on mentoring young men in their Christian walk. He was equally involved in the team that formed Corning Christian Academy, served on the school board for over 25 years, and helped implement the crucial renovation of the new school building in 2005. He has also enjoyed serving in the Gideon ministry for the last 14 years. Spending time with his family was a priority to which he added his hobbies of fishing, hunting, and working in his shop to fabricate numerous home and church projects.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Thursday, July 28th from 1-3 and 6-8 at Grace Lee Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2075 Chambers Road in Beaver Dams. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at the church with Pastor Don Nagy officiating. Burial will be in Goodsell Cemetery in Hornby.\n\n\nJohn's family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
