John O. Selander, age 96 of North Fort Meyers, Florida, formerly of Corning, died on March 7, 2012 at the Woodlands in Cape Coral, Florida.\n\nJohn was born in Corning on September 2, 1915 to John E. and Augusta (Soderholm) Selander. He was a graduate of Northside High School, and married Bernice Bailey in Dryden, NY in 1938 and was preceded in death by her in 1990.\n\nHe worked for Corning Glass Works for many years as a process engineer. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John enjoyed playing basketball and running track as a young man. He was the president of the Corning Inc. Athletic Club, was a shuffleboard champ, and was an avid golfer and got a hole in one at the age of 90.\n\nJohn is survived by his son Roger (Gloria) Selander of Ft. Meyers, FL; granddaughters, Lisa (Ron Cook) Granger, Laura (Charles) Sonner, and Kristine (Andy Cole; grandsons, Scot (Brenda) Selander, John (Pattie) Selander, and Todd Selander; great grandchildren, Alexander, Caroline, Madison, Emily, Robert, Katherine, Emily, Paige, Silas, and Morgan. John was preceded in death by his son Gary Selander.\n\nFuneral Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Haughey Fuenral Home, 216 East First Street in Corning.\n\nMemorial donations may be made in John's name to Hope Hospice at www.hopehospice.org.
