Jeanette "Gee Gee" Corby Bruneau, age 82, of Big Flats, NY passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY.\n\n\nJeanette was born the 4th child of Joseph and Julia (Tahany) Corby in Corning on November 19, 1931. Jeanette graduated from St. Vincent de Paul School in 1945 and from Northside High School in 1949. She worked at Ingersoll-Rand / Dresser Rand as a purchasing coordinator, and retired in December of 1991 with 39 years and 9 months of service. She taught typing in adult education classes and volunteered at the Corning Public Health Nurses.\n\n\nOn June 14, 1952 she married the love of her life, William A. Bruneau who predeceased her on January 5, 2000 after 47 years of marriage.\n\n\nShe was predeceased by her parents; sister, Eleanor Moon; brother, Thomas Corby and sister-in-law Mary; her husband; sister, Catherine and brother-in-law Paul Hilk; daughter, Deborah DeCapria.\n\n\nShe is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Brian) Scudder of Painted Post; grandchildren, William (Tonya Kleist) DeCapria of Odessa, Jennifer (Abe Close) DeCapria of Painted Post, Michelle (Doug) Roberts of Corning, Emily (Kyle Andress) Scudder of Corning; great grandchildren, Olivia, Elijah, and Karissa; brother: Donald (Darla) Corby of Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.\n\n\nWhen her grandchildren played sports, there were very few games that she missed (football, lacrosse, wrestling, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball) and cheered them on as loud as everyone else. She attended their art shows, plays, and dance recitals with much pride.\n\n\nJeanette enjoyed meeting with the Golden Girls for lunch at the Olive Garden every month. Also, she enjoyed meeting with the girls she worked with at Bob Evans for lunch every month and every Wednesday evening playing games at each other's houses with seven of the ladies that lived in the same community.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held on Tuesday January 7, 2014 from 4 until 6 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 East First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in her name to All Saints Parish, TV Mass, 222 Dodge Avenue, Corning, NY 14830, or to a charity of your choice.\n\n\nJeanette's family has entrusted her care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
