Jane Elizabeth Connaughton, age 71, of Corning, NY passed away on May 8, 2023, at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after a brief illness.\n\nJane was born on Christmas Day 1951. She was the daughter of Margaret and Alfred Connaughton and the stepdaughter of Florence Schaller Connaughton.\n\nJane was a graduate of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, East High School, and Corning Community College. Starting out after graduation, she worked in two doctor's offices before joining the City of Corning's Clerk's office, serving in various positions, and retiring after 27 years of service as a CSEA member.\n\nJane enjoyed socializing with friends and was a member of the Daughters of the Elks, Lions Club, Corning Hospital Chapter, and Women of the Moose, where she held numerous elected positions over the years. Her hobbies included card playing at the Elks, avid reading, knitting, and trivia at the VFW. She was a lifelong member of the Corning Roman Catholic community.\n\nShe is survived by her sister, Maureen. She was predeceased by her parents, stepmother, aunts, uncles, and one cousin.\n\nCalling hours will be held from 9 AM to 10 AM on Wednesday, May 17th at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First St., Corning, NY, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Church, 155 State Street, Corning, NY, with Father Don Curtis officiating.
