Helen Brennan Weale, age 94, of Horseheads, NY died Monday, November 9, 2015 at Bethany Manor. \n\n\nHelen was born on November 16, 1920 in Lindley, NY to Harlo and Coral (Wilson) Brennan. She married her beloved husband Marion Barnard Weale, also from Lindley, in 1940. The family moved to Buffalo, NY where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Buffalo State College in 1942. Helen retired from Chemung County Department of Social Services in 1982 after 29 and a half years. She was a supervisor of Children's Services for 20 years. She was a 63-year member of Westside United Methodist Church in Elmira.\n\n\nHelen enjoyed playing golf in retirement and belonged to the Wednesday Ladies at Willowcreek Golf Club, and the Tuesday League at Soaring Eagles. She especially liked playing for free as a 90-year-old at the Willowcreek course.\n\n\nHelen is survived by her son, Gary (Duchy) Weale of Gales Ferry, CT; a daughter, Marilyn Guerrieri of Los Gatos, CA; sisters, Ilene Holder of Delmont, PA and Joy (Richard) Sills of Canisteo, NY; grandchildren, Dan Weale, Liza Weale, Edith Quiroz, Peter (Gina) Guerrieri, Michael, Christine, and Gregg McConnell; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.\n\n\nHelen was predeceased by her parents; husband, Marion Weale (2013); and daughter, Laraine McConnell (1981).\n\n\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning with Reverend Vincent Howell officiating. Burial will be in Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats, NY.\n\n\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620 or to Westside United Methodist Church, 743 West First Street, Elmira, NY 14905.
