Helen A. Serdula, age 94 passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Corning Hospital after a brief illness. \n\n\nShe was born in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Helen Kolsun Serdula. A life-long resident of Corning, she was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School, Corning Free Academy and attended Corning Community College. She achieved her Certified Professional Secretary's Designation and retired as an Executive Secretary from Corning Glass Works, now Corning, Inc. She spent her retirement years traveling and enjoyed her home and her family. She was an avid walker and enjoyed the YMCA.\n\n\nHelen was a member of All Saints Parish, attending St. Vincent de Paul Church.\n\nHer survivors include two sisters, Celia Smith and Margaret Duffy, both of Corning, NY and many nieces and nephews.\n\n\nShe was predeceased by her parents; brothers John and George; sisters: Mary Demyan, Anne Sokira, Catherine Demyan and Susan Serdula.\n\n\nAt Helen's request, there will be no calling hours. A private family funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First St., Corning, NY.\n\n\nThe family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Corning Hospital, ICU for their kindness and loving care.\n\n\nMemorial donations may be given in Helen's name to All Saints Parish, 222 Dodge Ave., Corning, NY 14830 or to the charity of one's choice.
