Helen C. Roe, age 92, of Dayspring I in Corning, NY died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Founders Pavilion in Corning. Helen was born on July 16, 1920 in Corning to Arthur and Mary (Aker) Gill. She married Clarence Roe in 1941 at St. Mary's Church and was predeceased by him in 1992. Helen graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School and Corning Free Academy, and was a communicant of All Saints Parish. She was an auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus. She was an excellent homemaker and was famous for her apple pies and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed making ceramics and crocheting. Helen's survivors include her daughter Sandra (Thomas) Murray of Painted Post; five sons, Rick (Teresa) Roe, David (Brenda) Roe of Brandon, FL, Marc Roe, Timothy (Margaret) Roe, Shawn (Kathy) Roe; sisters, Lola O'Dell and Gertrude Gill both of Corning; a brother, Arthur (Marion) Gill of Corning; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Roe; grandson, Jamie Murray; sisters, Mary Conneely, Gretchen Gill, Anna Gill, Patricia Steele and Rita Gill; one brother, Thomas Gill. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 19th at St. Mary's Church on State Street in Corning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
