Harold Bruce Stone, Sr., age 94, of Wilton, ME, went to be with his Savior on Friday, November 16, 2018. Bruce was born August 6, 1924, in Dover, NJ. His loving parents were Emmanuel and Edythe (Tilyer) Stone. \n\n\nBruce married Dorothy Havens on December 26, 1947, in Johnson City, NY. She preceded him in death in 1980. \n\n\nBruce attended Harpursville Central School, Bob Jones University, and Baptist Bible Seminary. He served in the Navy as a Machinist Mate from 1943 to 1946. He pastored several churches in Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont and was the founder and member of both Northeastern Gospel Crusade and Bible Institute of New England. Bruce was a member of Maplehurst Baptist Church. He enjoyed preaching at the assisted living facilities in the Hinsdale area, and worked with Baptist Church Builders for several years.\n\n\nIn addition to his first wife, Dorothy, Bruce is preceded in death by his second wife, Vivian Lewis Tingue of Hinsdale, NY in 2011, his parents, and his great granddaughter, Keziah Zell. He is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Bill) Bowdoin of Bradford, NY; two sons, David (Evelyn) of Lima, Peru and Harold "Hal" (Linda) of Wilton, ME; four step children; ten grandchildren, several step grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. \n\n\nServices will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in honor of Reverend Stone, Sr. to Maplehurst Baptist Church, 1349 Route 446, Hinsdale, NY 14743. Burial will be in Castle Creek Cemetery, Glen Castle, NY.\n\n\nBruce's family entrusted his care to Haughey Funeral Home, Inc.
