Harold Joseph Maslyn, age 92, of Painted Post, NY, died on Saturday February 2, 2013 at Absolut Care at Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY.\n\n\nHarold was born on September 23, 1920, in Clifton Springs, NY, to Alphonse and Margaret (Garney) Maslyn. He married Lillian Landuyt in 1946 in Clifton Springs, NY. They were married for 67 years. He lived with his family in Clifton Springs, Scottsville, NY and finally in Painted Post, NY. \n\n\nHarold was a 1st Lieutenant Navigator in the Army Air Force during WWII flying 35 missions in a B-24 including two on D-Day and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. Harold always had a smile for everyone and great love for his wife and five children. Over the years, he was employed in various roles, owned his own meat cutting business, and held multiple elected positions in private and public sectors. His last position before retirement was Caledonia Bean Processing Plant Manager for Agway. In retirement, Harold and Lil enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and traveled across the US in their Airstream trailer to attend Army Air Force reunions. Harold was a volunteer at the Corning Hospital for many years and an active member of the All Saints Parish, Corning, NY. Exercise was very important to him, and he biked, swam, and walked daily well into his 80s. He actively worked jigsaw and crossword puzzles, but most of all he treasured being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. \n\n\nHarold is survived by his wife Lillian; three daughters: Linda Beauregard of Maple Shade, NJ, Patricia (Bob) Kohler of Sterling, NY, and Deborah Blackstone (Tom, deceased) of Plano, TX; son, Matthew (Mary) Maslyn of Painted Post, NY; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Anne Woodley, and by three brothers.\n\n\nCalling hours will be held at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc. 216 East First Street in Corning, NY, on Tuesday, February 5th from 1 until 3 PM with a prayer service following calling hours at 3 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery in Clifton Springs, NY. \n\n\nMemorial donations may be made in Harold Maslyn's name to any American Legion Post or All Saints Parish, Corning, NY.
