Genevieve Mary Gronski, age 92, of Corning, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. She was born on August 9, 1922 in Youngsville, PA to Maciej and Rose (Jop) Adamowicz. She married Stephen Gronski on June 8, 1946 and was preceded in death by him in December 19, 2000. Genny was a lunch mother at St. Vincent de Paul School and a volunteer at Corning Hospital. She was also a member of Corning Senior Citizens group, the former local Catholic Action Group, and a communicant of All Saints Parish. She enjoyed Bingo and card playing with her girlfriends. Her survivors include her children, Michael Gronski of Lawrenceville, GA, Andrew Gronski of Port Crane; Katherine Gronski and David (Mary Kay) Gronski of Corning, Stephen (Susan) Gronski Jr., Edward (Marybeth) Gronski of Horseheads, and Nancy (Wallace) Holiday of Elmira; grandchildren, Michael Gronski, Sarah Gronski, Stacie Gronski, Gregory Gronski and Kimberly Gronski; a sister-in-law, Brunhilde Adamowicz; many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; special friends, Fred and Joanne Button and Shirley Gronski and members of her card playing groups. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters: Joseph, Stanley, Henry, Peter, John, Walter, Mary, Anna, and Rose. Calling hours will be held today, Monday, March 30th from 4 until 7 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 31st at 9:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning, NY with Father John Forni officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning.
