Ahrens Jr., Frederick "Fred"\n\n\nAge 72, passed on February 1st, 2018 at the age of 72. He was the son of the late Frederick and Mildred Reed Ahrens Sr. \n\n\nFred is survived by his spouse of 24 years Victoria "Vicki" Vegard Ahrens and son James, brother-in-law and sister in-law, Jim and Connie Vegard, dear cousin, Richard and Lucy Reed, and many close family friends. Fred is also survived by his children, Jesse, Matthew and Elizabeth Ahrens.\n\n\nA Queens Native, and graduate of Penn State and the Brooklyn Law School, Fred came to Steuben County in 1972 to represent victims of Hurricane Agnes flood as a Senior Staff Attorney for the Southern Tier Legal Services. Fred started with the Corporation Counsel of New York City which started his private practice here in Corning, NY and retired as Steuben County Attorney in 2010 with 27 years of service.\n\n\nPer Fred's request, a celebration of Fred's life will be held at date to be determined.
