Fred William Wainwright, age 102, of Corning, NY went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Absolut Care At Three Rivers in Painted Post, NY. Fred was born on October 24, 1912 in Lakemont, NY to William and Carrie (Spears) Wainwright. He married Hazel Mae Creeley on July 19, 1949 and was preceded in death by her on December 5, 2006. Fred was sent to a NYS Hudson Orphanage in 1922 and graduated from Hudson High School in 1934. He came to Corning and started working for Corning Glass Works in 1940 and was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1941, stationed in Burma. After his honorable discharge he returned to Corning Glass Works and retired in 1971. Fred was a long-time member of North Baptist Church in Corning, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was on the Board of Child Evangelism Fellowship for 25 years as treasurer. He also ministered with Bible Club Ministries as a counselor at Bible camp and helped with released time programs for religious instruction. Fred had many hobbies and interests that kept him busy. He was a very kind hearted man who would always go the extra mile and was a very caring individual. Fred is survived by his niece, Betty Lou Strait and a great niece; great friends, Gary and Nancy Kohler. Friends are invited to Haughey Funeral Home 216 East First Street Corning, NY on Thursday, January 22nd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. where funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM. Burial with full Military honors will be accorded in Hope Cemetery in Corning. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Fred's name to the Bible Club Ministries P.O.
